                                                                    About Your Surf Lesson

We will Start with what we call the beach lesson.  During the beach lesson, you will learn about ocean safety, how to paddle, how to stand up, how to maintain your balance, and some other basic surfing knowledge. The beach lesson usually takes about 15 minutes. Once everyone has mastered surfing on the beach, you will be helped into the ocean by our instructors and then, it's surfing time!!

While we are surfing, our instructors will always be within 5 seconds of you to make sure you have a safe and enjoyable time.  Catching the wave is something that your instructor will do for you by simply pushing you on to the wave at the back of your surfboard.  Most people find their balance on wave 2 or 3.  If you do happen to fall off your board (wipeout), you will have a  stretchable rubber surfing leash attached to your ankle, so your board will stay within 6 feet of you.  If you're interested in catching your own wave by paddling into it, that can be easily explained to you too.

At the end of your lesson, you will be helped out of the ocean by our instructors.  Once you are back on the beach, we highly recommend taking a seat on the sand to catch your breath and take in the incredible scenery! Also, don't be surprised if you see a hawaiian green sea turtle on the beach or alongside you while you're surfing, as they are very common in the area.  With all the fun waves, mountainous views, and incredible wildlife, you are sure to leave with a smile!!

                                                                         Special Care For Kids

We keep a very close eye on the kids.  If they are having trouble paddling, our instructors will literrally

paddle for them by placing their foot on the front of their surfboard and towing them into position for each of their waves.  The very young kids (generally ages 3 - 6) will have the option of riding on the same surfboard

as an instructor (tandem surfing).  The instructor will be on the back of the board and will even help them balance by holding one or both of their hands while surfing on the wave.

Don't be surprised if your kid ends up surfing better then you parents, as their youthful flexibility and care free mindsets usually have them surfing perfectly on their very first wave!!  We can even get you and your kid

surfing on the same wave (party wave).  As usual, the kids always seem to be having the most fun and we are ready to have fun with them!!

                                                             About The Equippment

You will be riding surfboards that are specially designed for surf lessons.  They are made of a soft, padded, foamy like material for safety. They are about 3 - 4 feet longer, and 2 - 3 inches thicker then advanced (or normal) surfboards.  The extra length and thickness makes them very floaty and easy to  balance on.

We have long sleeve surf shirts (rashguards) for you to wear to prevent you from developing a surfing rash.

They also work even better then sunscreen to protect you from getting sunburned. You're welcome to bring

your own surf shirt too. Lifejackets are available for weaker swimmers and young kids upon request.
